Poole Waste Not Want Not Named Poole BID’s Charity of the Year

Poole Waste Not Want Not(PWNWN) provides a ‘lifeline’ to the local Poole community, and has been named Poole BID’s Charity of the Year 2023-2024.

PWNWN’s mission is to support members of the community who suffer from insufficient disposable income and who need support in coping with life. They are a social supermarket, which enables members with essentials that they would not normally be able to afford.

The BID Board of Directors were impressed with all of the applications received from across the town and the great causes that are represented in the local BID district. Regrettably, only one charity could be selected and PWNWN was voted as the Charity of the Year from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024.

Jacqui Rock, BID Lead said “The current economic crisis was an important factor when it came to the Directors’ decision. Erika and the team at PWNWN not only offer an essential lifeline to low-income families, but they also help with improving personal and social skills as well as coordinating their efforts with other local services such as food banks, local crisis teams, debt services and well-being.

We look forward to supporting them with increasing awareness of the fantastic support they offer as well as helping to generate fundraising opportunities throughout the year.

Erika Sloper, Charity Project Manager added “We couldn’t be more delighted to be chosen as Poole BIDs Charity of the Year, this is such great news for us. The last few years have been tough on all of us, as our charity grows the demand increases, which is having a detrimental impact on our finances. We know that we are needed more than ever, and my passion to help our most deprived in Poole inspired me to connect with others in our community. Being part of Poole BID levy community has helped with vital opportunities and connections by working together to achieve our goals, but more importantly, gain awareness of the support we offer. I can’t thank Jacqui and Wendy enough for their support, I’m very excited to see what 2023 has to offer”.
